A verified electronic transmission is a digital message or document sent electronically that includes built-in proof confirming who sent it and that it arrived intact without being altered. Courts and businesses use this term when they need more than a regular email because the stakes are high enough to require a reliable record of exactly who sent what and when. The verification piece is what separates this from an ordinary email you might fire off to a customer.
Example
If your business partner sends you a signed contract termination notice through a certified e-signature platform that logs the sender's identity, timestamp, and delivery confirmation, that qualifies as a verified electronic transmission. The platform creates a digital paper trail that holds up if the matter ever ends up in court.
Watch Out
Many contracts and state laws specify exactly what technology or process qualifies as proper verification, so sending a regular email when a verified electronic transmission is required could mean your notice has no legal effect at all.
