Definition

The term of the agreement is simply how long a contract lasts from start to finish. It tells both parties exactly when their obligations begin and when they end, so everyone knows the timeline they are committing to.

Example

If you sign a one-year lease for your retail space starting January 1st, that twelve-month window is the term of the agreement.

Watch Out

Pay close attention to whether the contract automatically renews at the end of the term, because many business owners get locked into another full cycle without realizing it.
