technical specifications
Definition
Technical specifications are the detailed written requirements that describe exactly what a product, service, or project must look, perform, or function like. Think of them as the precise rulebook that both you and a contractor or vendor agree to follow, so there is no confusion about what the finished result should be.
Example
If you hire a web developer to build your online store, the technical specifications might state that the site must load in under two seconds, support 500 simultaneous users, and work on both iOS and Android devices.
Watch Out
Vague or missing technical specifications are one of the most common reasons business disputes end up in court, so always get them in writing and as specific as possible before any work begins.
