Definition
When a license is sublicensable, it means the person who received permission to use something (like software, music, or a brand) can turn around and grant that same permission to someone else. Think of it like getting a key to a building and also having the right to make copies of that key for other people. The original owner is essentially allowing their permission to be passed down the chain.
Example
If you license a software tool for your business and the license is sublicensable, you could legally allow your contractors or partner companies to use that same software without them needing to get their own separate agreement from the original software maker.
Watch Out
If you are the one granting a sublicensable license to someone, you are giving up significant control because you may not know or approve of everyone that person eventually shares your work with.
