Productions are documents, records, emails, contracts, photos, or other physical and digital items that one party must hand over to the other side during a lawsuit or legal dispute. When a lawyer sends you a 'request for production,' they are formally asking you to gather and share specific business records or materials related to the case. This process is part of discovery, which is the pre-trial phase where both sides collect evidence from each other.
Example
If a customer sues your business for a defective product, the other side's attorney might request productions including your quality control logs, employee training manuals, and all emails discussing that product line.
