Definition
A protection order is a court order that legally requires one person to stay away from and stop contacting another person who feels threatened or unsafe. Example
If a former employee repeatedly shows up at your business and threatens you or your staff, you can ask a court to issue a protection order requiring that person to stay a certain distance away from your workplace.
Watch Out
If someone has obtained a protection order against you, even accidentally running into that person in public can be considered a violation, so take the terms of the order very seriously and consult a lawyer immediately.
