Definition
A non-solicitation agreement is a promise you sign saying you won't try to poach a company's employees or customers after you stop working with them. Businesses use these agreements to protect the relationships they've spent time and money building.
Example
If you hire a salesperson and have them sign a non-solicitation agreement, they can't leave your company and immediately call all your best clients to bring them to their new employer.
Watch Out
Courts won't enforce a non-solicitation clause that lasts too long or covers too broad a geographic area, so make sure yours is reasonable or it may be worthless.
