non-compliant goods
Definition
Non-compliant goods are products that fail to meet the requirements set out in a contract, industry regulation, or safety standard. When a buyer orders something specific and the seller delivers something that doesn't match those agreed-upon specifications, those products are considered non-compliant.
Example
You order 500 custom t-shirts in size large, but the supplier ships size medium shirts instead, making those shirts non-compliant goods under your purchase agreement.
Watch Out
Accepting non-compliant goods without formally objecting in writing can sometimes be treated as your approval of those goods, which may waive your right to compensation or a replacement later.
