Definition
The Motion Picture Association of America publishes a set of security standards that any business handling movie or TV content must follow to protect that content from leaking or being stolen. These requirements cover things like how you store digital files, who can access them, and how you physically secure your facility. If you work with studios or distributors, they will often require you to prove your business meets these standards before they trust you with their content.
Example
A small post-production company that edits films for a major studio would need to show the studio that their office has locked server rooms, encrypted file transfers, and background-checked employees before receiving any footage to work with.
Watch Out
Failing to meet these requirements can get your business blacklisted from working with major studios entirely, even if no actual breach ever occurs.
