Definition
An ISP is a company that sells you access to the internet, like Comcast, AT&T, or Verizon. In legal contexts, ISPs often come up because they can be required by courts to hand over information about their customers or to block certain online content.
Example
If someone uses your business WiFi to do something illegal online, law enforcement might subpoena your ISP to find out who was connected to your network at that time.
Watch Out
Your ISP keeps records of your internet activity, and those records can be obtained through a court order without you necessarily being notified right away.
