Definition
This is the legal power one person has to act on behalf of another person or business, making decisions and signing documents that legally bind that other party. Think of it as official permission that lets someone speak, sign, and commit resources in your name. Courts and other businesses rely on this authority to know whether the person they are dealing with can actually make a deal stick.
Example
If you give your office manager the authority to sign vendor contracts up to $10,000, that manager has autoridad de representación within those limits, and suppliers can trust that those contracts are valid and enforceable against your business.
Watch Out
If someone acts on your behalf without this authority properly established in writing, you could end up either unexpectedly bound by agreements you never approved or unable to enforce deals your representative made.
