Definition
Acceptance is the moment when someone agrees to the exact terms of an offer, creating a legally binding contract between two parties. Think of it as the point where a handshake deal becomes real, whether you say yes out loud, sign on the dotted line, or even just start doing the work you were asked to do.
Example
If a client sends you a proposal saying they will pay you $5,000 to build their website and you email back saying 'sounds great, let's do it,' that email is your acceptance and you now have a contract.
Watch Out
If you agree to an offer but change any of the terms, like the price or the deadline, the law treats that as a counteroffer rather than acceptance, which means no contract exists yet.
